Mica is a natural mineral. It is mined in sheets-like sheets of paper. These sheets are colored with pigments and then mica powder is made by grinding these sheets into various sized flakes

Mica powder can be range from large flakes to a very fine powder. The grinding polishes the mica and gives it its sheen and pearlescent finish.

Mica powders can be used in an endless variety of ways

Remember, micas can have several different elements making up the dry pigment.  When a liquid is added, whether it is oil, water, lip gloss base, etc, the wet elemet may look like a different color because the liquid can bring one element to the forefront.

For example, a color pink can be made cooler by adding some blue, but when liquid is added, the blue can intensify to make the color more of a fucshia or purple color than the dry color was.  Experiment and practice to learn how to maximize the effect you wamt to have in your finished product!

andas always, create and have fun!
